San Diego, California- When you put your mind to it, you can do it. Victoria Majors is a bright, talented, and beautiful young lady based in San Diego, California. Whether it's through activism, laughter, or planning events for her community, Victoria is all about bringing people together. She has also ventured into the world of social media. The fantastic personality of Victoria Majors has gained her thousands of followers on TikTok!

Who is Victoria Majors?

"Honestly, I can describe myself in a number of ways. Most of the time, I don't know which to choose. Nevertheless, I believe Victoria Majors is a confident, caring, loving, and awkward person.”

What motivated you to become involved in social and political activism?

“During late 2020-early 2021, I downloaded TikTok and most of the videos on my For You Page consisted of things regarding what was happening in the political world. As I went through them, I was constantly making friends with people that were heavily involved in that. I remember one of my mutuals posted about “Gen Z for Change” but at the time it was called “Gen Z for Biden” because they made it during the heat of the election. After I filled out the Google form, I began getting heavily involved in it.”

Gen Z for Change: What Is It?

“Gen Z for Change first started off with 200 young socially active teenagers and young adults talking about different things that are going on around the world. As I previously stated, it started off with us solely talking about the election and getting people out to vote for Biden. After he won the election, we changed the name to “Gen Z for Change”. We now focus mainly on things going on around the world and our own country.”

Is there anything on the political side that interests you more?

“I am definitely more interested in what happens on the racial side of things. More specifically in regards to how black women are treated. It’s just something that needs to get talked about more often. Black women go through entirely too much and it doesn’t get talked about at all.”

With you being an activist, are there more things you want to be more involved with?

“There are a lot of things that I want to get more involved with. I want to continue planning protests and speaking out about things that are important. During the heat of the Black Lives Matter Movement, my friends and I planned 3 peaceful protests out here in California. The event was well attended by a large number of people. I would also like to get more involved with my local community organizations that deal with political and social activism. Community work is super important to me.”

During your political activism, what things have opened your eyes?

“There were a lot of things that opened my eyes throughout my political activism career! I’ve always known of racism and how bad it was but looking at it from the lens of being more socially and politically involved in that really made me realize how horrible people are just based on the color of their skin or their gender. It’s super heartbreaking to see. I wish everyone could just love one another. The world would be a much better place if people were loving, caring, and kind to one another.”

What have you learned throughout your social activism?

“Throughout my social activism, I’ve learned a lot more specifically about Gen Z for change. They were the first organization that I had ever worked with. I’ve learned all of the technicalities and I learned a lot about myself. I learned to have more empathy for people whose opinions may not align with yours. I also learned how to get your point across in a civilized manner.”

Are there any politicians you would like to work with in the future?

“Absolutely! I would love to work with Stacey Abrams and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez!”

What has been your greatest accomplishment thus far?

“I would say protests that my friends and I set up in my community during the heat of Black Lives Matter would be my biggest accomplishment so far! I went to a predominantly white high school and we purposefully planned the protest in a white area. Of Course, they were mad but we did it for a good cause. Things like this need to be talked about.”

Where can we reach you and/or just follow you on your journey?

“You all can follow me on all platforms except for Twitter at VictoriaMajors.”

“Never give up. If it’s something you’re passionate about, continue fighting for it. There are people out there that aren’t being given the opportunity to speak up and speak out. We’re given that opportunity to be able to speak up and speak out. That’s something that shouldn’t be taken for granted. Just stay at it and keep hard the hard work.”- Victoria Majors
