Over the past few months, the Democratic Party has been in turmoil. Earlier this year, after years of urging for a new Democratic candidate, the party announced that Joe Biden would remain the presidential nominee for the 2024 election. This decision gave the Republican Party an unexpected advantage, as there was widespread discontent on both sides about having an 80 year old candidate.

The debate between Trump and Biden on June 27, 2024, was a clear illustration of this dissatisfaction. Instead of focusing on their policies and how they would benefit the country, both candidates spent much of the debate deflecting questions and taking jabs at each other. Biden notably stumbled over his words and lost track of his thoughts for about 30 seconds, while Trump displayed his usual behavior, marked by blatant lies and erratic statements.

Following the debate, polling data showed a significant drop in Biden’s numbers, while Trump’s support surged. This shift in public opinion forced the Democratic Party to reconsider its strategy, recognizing the growing sentiment that Biden, at over 80 years old, should perhaps be stepping into retirement rather than running for another term.

On the other hand, Trump, despite his popularity among his base, brings his own set of controversies. He is widely viewed as a racist and a bigot, and his track record as a businessman and political figure raises serious questions about his competency. His criminal indictments further underscore concerns about his fitness for office.

In summary, the current political landscape has both parties grappling with their candidates' significant flaws. The Democratic Party is reeling from the decision to stick with Biden, while the Republican Party contends with Trump’s controversial and divisive nature. As the election approaches, voters are left to weigh these issues and consider the future direction of the country.

On the afternoon of July 21, 2024, the world was taken by surprise with breaking news. President Biden, after months of insisting he would not step down, announced that he would not be running for reelection. In an open letter to the Democratic Party, President Biden declared his decision to withdraw from the upcoming election. With this decision, the Democratic Party was left scrambling to determine their next steps. Concerns arose that Biden’s withdrawal could pave the way for Trump to become the next President. However, Biden made a surprising move by releasing a statement endorsing Vice President Harris for President.
